Golf World Mourns Passing of Stuart Scott

Longtime ESPN sports journalist Stuart Scott passed away Sunday from cancer at the age of 49. An avid golfer, Scott was remembered by many of the game’s greats via social media Sunday, in particular Tiger Woods.

“Stuart wasn’t covering heroes & champions,” Woods tweeted. “It was the other way around. Thinking of my friend & his daughters.”

ESPN first broke the news Sunday morning, with Scott’s longtime co-worker Hannah Storm reporting it, breaking into tears at the end of the report.

Scott’s death caught the attention and respect of several other sports networks that morning, with the NFL Network, and both major American pro football pre-game shows breaking away from normal coverage to pay homage to him and reflect on his passing.

Scott was first diagnosed with cancer in 2007 and had been in and out of remission since, returning to work twice.
