If he was awed by the company he kept at the Hero World Challenge on Thursday, Jordan Spieth certainly overcame it on the course.
The 21-year-old third-year PGA pro fired a 6-under 66 to take a one-stroke lead at Tiger Woods’ tournament in Windhaven, Florida.
He held a one-stroke lead over Steve Stricker, who is playing for the first time since the PGA Championship in August. Stricker played considerably better than host Woods, also in action for the first time since August.
Woods was rusty, especially on his short game, finishing with a 5-over 77.
