It was the golf swing heard around the world, or at least around Southern California. Los Angeles Lakers point guard Steve Nash, a future Hall-of-Famer, drew the ire of thousands of his basketball team’s fanatics last week when he posted a video on social media of himself practicing a golf swing.
The problem? He was earlier ruled out for the entire NBA season with a back injury, which most feel would make swinging a golf club seem like kind of an impossible thing to do.
Nash hastily took the video off Instagram after the backlash had hit full force. Nash tried to explain via Facebook the difference, but Laker fans, whose team is off to a miserable 1-5 start.
“This may be hard for people to understand unless you’ve played NBA basketball, but there is an incredible difference between this game and swinging a golf club, hiking, even hitting a tennis ball or playing basketball at the park,” he wrote.
