Steve Stricker has hit clutch shots in front of some big crowds in his time, but 80,000 people? That’s a new one.
Stricker, wearing an Illinois hat for his alma mater and a Wisconsin shirt for his hometown team, fired three shots off the top of the University of Wisconsin’s Camp Randall stadium scoreboard during halftime of the two teams’ game last Saturday.
Stricker’s goal? Hit a shot into onto the ‘W’ logo at midfield of the stadium. If he was able to, a fan would win tickets to the 2015 PGA Championship, which is being played at Whistling Straits, just down the road from the university.
Unfortunately for the fan, Stricker misfired on all three shots. The shot was about 135 yards, but the substantial wind and the rather odd angle, played into his struggles.
