Rory McIlroy Wins PGA Player of the Year

In a result that surprised no one on this planet, Rory McIlroy wont he PGA Tour’s Player of the Year trophy on Thursday.

It’s his second time to win the crown, introduced in 1990. The only other men to win it twice are Tiger Woods, Greg Norman and Nick Price.

McIlroy was one of only two players, the other American Jimmy Walker, to win three tournament titles in 2014. Of course, two of McIlroy’s were The Open Championship and the PGA Championship – events that led to him reclaiming the No. 1 ranking in the world.

It was a picture-perfect year on the links for McIlroy, as he finished in the top 10 12 times and never finished worse than 25th; leading the PGA Tour with $8.2 million in winnings.

Other finalists for the award were Walker, Bubba Watson, Billy Horschel and Martin Kaymer.
