The Netherlands’ Joost Luiten fired his second 65 in three days to reclaim the lead at the Wales Open on Saturday. Luiten’s 6-under 65 was his second in three rounds starting fast and finishing fast. Luiten had three birdies in his first five holes, and three more in his last four.
He took the overall lead away from Ireland’s Shane Lowry, who dropped to 12-under with a 68. Lowry had three birdies in his first six holes, then 12 straight pars the rest of the way.
France’s Gregory Hayret and Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee are tied for third at 11-under.
The round of the day went to Eddie Pepperel, who fired a 63 to slide to 8-under. It was night and day from Pepperel’s second round, in which he had a pair of double bogeys. On Saturday, he birdied five holes between 11 and 18.
