Nick Watney Takes Saturday Lead at Wyndham

Another day, another name at the top of the leaderboard at the Wyndham Championships.

Nick Watney drained a 20-foot putt for birdie to take a 1-stroke lead through 54 holes, finishing with a 6-under 65 on the day.

Canada’s Brad Fritsch, who started the day tied for seventh, also shot a 65 to rise to second place, one stroke behind Watney.

Day 2 co-leader Health Slocum slid back to a tie for third at 12-under, while Scott Langley dropped to a tie for fifth at 11-under.

He’s tied there with two former winners of the event – Webb Simpson and last year’s champion, Brand Snedeker.

Watney shot another bogey-free round to rise to the top. Fritsch had fewer birdies, but made up for it with an eagle 2 on the par-4 No. 9.
