What was supposed to be a showcase of Danish golf has turned into a decidedly UK affair.
At the completion of 54 holes on Saturdays, UK golfers held six of the top seven spots on the leader board at the Made in Denmark tournament being held in Aalborg at the Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort.
On a day of high scores, Scotland’s Marc Warren rose up the board from tied for 12th to tied for the lead thanks to his 5-under 66. Warren marked eight birdies on his scorecard, including four between holes 13 and 17.
He’s now tied for the lead with Wales’ Bradley Dredge, who struggled to a 2-over 73.
The pair have a 3-stroke lead over Northern Ireland’s Gareth Maybin and England’s Simon Wakefield. Maybin shot a 3-under 68 to climb up 22 spots. Since his 4-over 75 on Thursday, Maybin has played the course at 7-under.
Denmark’s Thorbjorn Olesen shot a 1-over 72 to drop into a tie for fifth. Thomas Bjorn shot his second straight 2-over 73 and is down to a tie for eighth, 5 strokes off the lead.
