US Open champion Martin Kaymer had another strong performance at the Alstom Open last week, and the result is that the German has narrowed the gap at the top of the Race to Dubai standings to almost nothing.
Kaymer trails Thomas Bjorn by less than €17,000 for the top spot in the year-end tournament, which has a $5 million payout to be split by the top 15 finishers, as well as a $1 million prize for the winner and a 10-year European Tour exemption.
Alstom Open winner Graeme McDowell jumped up to 12th in the standings, despite having only played in seven European Tour tournaments this year.
