Move over, president of the Peter Hanson fan club; you’ve just been replaced as the golfer’s biggest fan.
Hanson, who didn’t factor into the final leader board at the Quicken Loans National at Congressional last weekend, made an ace on the par-3, 222-yard No. 2 on Saturday.
With it, he won a contest for golf fan Arline Deacon, a resident of Fayetville, Georgia. Deacon had entered a contest sponsored by Quicken that stated that if any player hit a hole-in-one during the four-round tournament, a random fan would win free mortgage payments for a year from Quicken.
While Deacon will have a year of very easy living, it could have been an even bigger windfall had Hanson or any other player recorded the ace on the No. 10 hole – where Quicken was prepared to shell out $1 million for an ace.
