Tiger Woods will take to the golf course in a professional tournament for the first time in three months on Thursday, saying that his recovery from surgery is ahead of schedule, and his goal remains to win more tournaments and more Majors.
Woods held a press conference Tuesday in which he said that he’s had to accept the fact that getting treatment is part of his life as a professional now, unlike when he was younger and “didn’t need it.”
Woods has fallen from No. 1 in the world to No. 4 during his absence.
The 2014 Quicken Loans National has no problem promoting one of the game’s all-time greats, pairing him with Australia’s Jason Day and phenom Jordan Spieth in the first round.
Woods has won 14 Majors in his career, second-most all-time to Jack Nickalus’ 18. However, Woods has not won a Major since 2008, and has not won the British Open since 2006.
