Irish Open Features Local Favorites McIlroy, Harrington

Rory McIlroy should have his lost clubs back for the start of the Irish Open on Thursday, which is a good thing since he’ll be paired with fellow Irish Major winner Padraig Harrington in the first two rounds.

The two, who have a combined five Major titles, will be joined by Scotland’s Stephen Gallacher to start the back nine at 7:50 a.m. local time on Thursday at the picturesque Fota Island Resort.

Ten minutes before that trio is on course, England’s Matthew Fitzpatrick will make his professional debut, joined by former British Open champion Paul Lawrie and Euro Tour champ Tommy Fleetwood.

It’s the first time the Irish Open has been held at the Cork course since 2002.
