When you win two big tournaments like The PLAYERS Championship and the US Open in the same season, it means not only are you going to be playing in the FedExCup come the end of the season, but that you also have a pretty solid shot at winning the thing.
Martin Kaymer found that out when the latest FedExCup standings were released Monday as he rose from 24th to 5th following his easy victory at Pinehurst No. 2 on Sunday. With two wins and three Top 10 finishes this season, Kaymer has 1,509 FedExCup points.
The fact that he’s only played 12 events, given that he spend a lot of time on the European Tour as well, makes his sum all the more impressive.
Kaymer’s jump knocked Jordan Spieth down to sixth and the rest of the Top 10 from Spieth on dropped one spot each as well.
The top 4 remained the same: Jimmie Walker, Bubba Watson, Matt Kuchar and Dustin Johnson.
US Open co-runner up Rickie Fowler also had a big jump, from 49th to 25th.
