The FedEx St. Jude Classic will host 86 former PGA winners including 16 who have previously won Majors, something most in the competition are probably already thinking about a little given that the US Open begins a week from Thursday.
In the meantime, last year’s champion Harris English and another 155 players are on hand in Memphis, Tennessee, at the TPC Southwind.
One of the most intriguing early plot lines is that of Patrick Reed, who is playing for the first time since daughter Windsor-Wells Reed was born May 22 in Houston, Texas. Windsor-Wells is along for the road trip with Reed and his wife.
Tour officials are hoping the weather will cooperate, but it’s looking like a steamy weekend in the South. Temperatures are expected to approach 90 degrees each day and thunderstorms range between 30-60% likely over the course of the weekend.
Defending champion Harris English is on the course at 7:40 a.m. local on Thursday, joined by Scott Stallings and Phil Mickelson.
