Phil Mickelson gained an unlikely ally in his case of defending himself against allegations from the FBI that he benefited from insider trading – Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.
The oft-controversial, always-opinionated Cuban was accused of the same thing in 2013, with charges brought against him by the US’ Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
On Monday morning, Cuban took to Twitter to discuss the similarity of the situation and his own case, which began in 2008 when he saw on CNBC that he was being investigated.
“Carl Icahn has never met or spoken to Phil Mickelson, yet he is in the middle of a media firestorm re Insider Trading.”. Cuban closed the Tweet with the hashtag of #headlineporn.
FBI agents asked to speak to Mickelson after he had finished the first round of The Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village. Mickelson told the agents to talk to his lawyers.
