FootJoy is celebrating after brand ambassador Adam Scott clinched the Crowne Plaza Invitational, cementing his position as the world’s No.1 golfer.

Only days after assuming the top spot in the Official World Golf Ranking, the Australian carded rounds of 71, 68, 66 and 66 at Colonial Country Club, equaling fellow FJ loyalist Jason Dufner on a total of 271.

Trusting the superior comfort and fit of the FJ D.N.A.™ Shoe and FJ StaSof® Glove, Scott showed class befitting the world’s best player with a bogey-free penultimate round, followed by a further seven gains over the course of his final 18 holes.

Had he failed to gain a top-13 finish in Texas, the 2013 Masters champion would have relinquished the No.1 spot to FJ Ambassador Henrik Stenson, after the Swede’s tie for seventh at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

By virtue of his second title since winning at Augusta in 2013, Scott also became the first man to complete the ‘Texas Slam’, adding to his 2007 Houston Open, 2008 Byron Nelson Championship and 2010 Texas Open titles.

After receiving a winner’s cheque in excess of $1million, Scott said: “It’s a good feeling and maybe some validation, you could say. I was having to speak about it a lot this week, leading up to teeing off and maybe added a little pressure for myself, trying to play like a No.1.

“But I think the important thing was I realised that didn’t mean playing perfect. The way I came back and got it done, I felt like I certainly played like one of the best players in the world out there.”

Scott was joined in the upper reaches of the Crowne Plaza leaderboard by FJ counterparts Ryan Palmer (T5), John Senden (T5) and Jimmy Walker (T10).

“Adam Scott has once again proven why he is the world’s No.1 player and we are delighted to see him strengthen his position at the head of the Official World Golf Ranking,” commented Russell Lawes, FootJoy Marketing Manager.

“The superior performance of FJ Shoes and Gloves is now trusted by the world’s No.1 and No.2 golfers, validating the quality of the products that make FJ the brand of choice in both categories for golfers worldwide.”

On one of the most lucrative weekends of the year on both sides of the Atlantic, the FootJoy brand once again dominated the PGA and European Tour counts, with the majority of golfers choosing to sport models from its unrivalled shoe and glove ranges. At the Crowne Plaza Invitational, a total of 60% of golfers chose FJ footwear – almost four times that of the nearest competitor – while 34% utilised performance-enhancing FJ gloves.

FJ’s overwhelming popularity was also evident at the European Tour’s flagship BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, where 61% and 35% of the field opted to wear FJ shoes and gloves, respectively.
