Jordan Spieth Joins Top 5 in FedEx Standings

Jordan Spieth moved into the Top 5 and Brendon Todd the Top 10 in the latest FedExCup Standings released Monday after the conclusion of the Colonial.

Despite not winning a title yet in 2014, Spieth is fifth in the points standings with 1,393. Everyone else in the Top 10 has at least one win on the season.

In 16 events this year, Spieth, who won’t turn 21 until late July, has 12 Top 25 finishes, six Top 10 finishes and two second-place finishes.

Meanwhile, Brendon Todd climbed from 11th to ninth this week in the standings.

Adam Scott, Colonial winner and No. 1 in the world for a second straight week, jumped 44 spots from No. 58 to No. 14. He’s the only golfer in the top 25 of the standings who has played fewer than 10 events (just 8).

The top 125 golfers on the PGA in points accrued qualify for the FedExCup, a month-long series of tournaments with huge cash payouts and the opportunity to earn more points to win an overall $10 million prize.

The man currently on the hot seat is John Merrick, who slipped six spots to No. 126 this week.
