TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour staff Professional Martin Kaymer held off a surging contingent of many of the best players in the world at THE PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
And here’s what the Ryder Cup star had in his bag:
Driver: SLDR 460 9.5°
Fairway: SLDR 14°
Rescue: SLDR 17°
Irons: Tour Preferred MC 3-PW
Wedges: xFT 54° & 58°
Ball: Lethal
Footwear: adidas Golf adicross gripmore
Following a course-record tying 63 in the opening round, Kaymer played his most complete golf of the 2014 PGA TOUR season throughout the rest of the weekend, holding on down the stretch for a one shot victory. The 29-year-old German played his SLDR Driver set to 9.5 degrees to hit long drives off the tee and capitalised on brilliant play around the greens, including a critical par saving putt on the 71st hole. In addition to SLDR metalwoods, Kaymer also played the new TaylorMade Tour Preferred MC irons (3-PW).
Kaymer’s win was also the first for adidas Golf’s soon-to-be-launched gripmore® footwear. The gripmore® line features an innovation in cleat design that combines the performance benefits of spiked and spikeless footwear into one revolutionary technology. Kaymer first wore adicross gripmore in competition at the WGC-Cadillac Championship in March.
The win was Kaymer’s third career victory on the PGA TOUR. He earned 600 FedExCup points and a five-year exemption to THE PLAYERS Championship.
Fellow adidas Golf Tour staffer Jim Furyk finished second, while TaylorMade-adidas Tour staffers Sergio Garcia and Justin Rose finished 3rd and T4, respectively.
