Another week, another first-time winner on the PGA Tour.

This go-round the honor goes to Brendon Todd, who fired a 66 on Sunday to finish 14-under par and defeat Mike Weir by two strokes at the HP Byron Nelson Championship in Irving, TX.

His signature shot on the day came when he switched hands and knocked a putt left handed away from a tree on No. 13, setting up a short par putt. He didn’t have a single bogey on the day in shooting 4-under.

The victory came in his 77th career PGA start. He’s lost full PGA privileges twice in the last five years, but now has an exemption through the end of the 2015-2016 season, not to mention a spot in The Masters in 2015 and that nice $1.242 million check with his name on it for winning in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

The current PGA season continues to be a great advertising campaign for the University of Georgia’s golf program. Todd, along with 2014 tournament winners Bubba Watson, Harris English, Chris Kirk and Russell Henley, all graduated from UGA.

Todd is also the eighth first-time winner on Tour this year.
