Martin Kaymer Surges Into FedExCup Top 20

Germany’s Martin Kaymer jumped from 114th to 18th in the latest FedExCup standings following his come-from-behind win at The PLAYERS Championship last weekend in Ponte Vedra, Florida.

Ranked 114th about halfway through the season had Kaymer on the bubble to qualify for the year-end championships, as only the top 125 players make the first cut.

Kaymer was awarded 500 points for his win, giving him 871 for the year.

American Jimmy Walker, who continues to be the only player on tour with three tournament victories this season, still leads the race with 2,141 points. The Masters champion Bubba Watson is second with 1,858. The only significant moves inside the Top 10 this week was 20-year-old Jordan Spieth rising from eighth to sixth after his third-place finish at The PLAYERS last week; and Jim Furyk, who was the PLAYERS’ runner-up, rising from 24th to 10th.
