SLALEY HALL SET FOR MOROCCAN MAGIC

The northern regional final of the Morocco Matchplay, powered by HowDidiDo, will be played among the glorious Northumberland moorland and forest at De Vere Slaley Hall, Hexham.

The 1,000-acre resort will play host to two days of competitive amateur golf on October 7 and 8, as golfers from across Scotland and the north of England compete in four categories – singles, pairs, mixed pairs and senior pairs – to earn the right to play in the grand final next February in Morocco.

Overlooked by a magnificent, elegant Edwardian mansion, the equally stunning, Dave Thomas-designed Hunting course, at De Vere Slaley Hall, is a regular stopping-off point for the European Senior Tour and will provide a stern challenge for golfers who will have already battled their way through a minimum of four local contests to reach the northern final.

The 7,000-yard, par-72 course is laid out across rolling moorland, and features streams, lakes, towering trees and banks of rhododendrons – yet while it is aesthetically stunning, well-placed bunkers and tricky greens will catch out the unsuspecting.

Slaley Hall’s golf sales manager, Jeff Mills, said: “We are proud to be able to host the northern regional final of the Morocco Matchplay, powered by HowDidiDo. It is one of the premier amateur matchplay events in country and is renowned for the quality of its golf.

“We believe that in the Hunting course they will find a stern, yet fair, challenge – and they can rest assured that, if they win through to the grand final in Morocco, they will have earned their trip.”

Formerly the HowDidiDo Matchplay Championship, one of the UK and Ireland’s leading amateur events for more than 20 years, the Morocco Matchplay, powered by HowDidiDo, offers thousands of golfers the opportunity to win an expenses-paid trip to Morocco. Each finalist will receive complimentary flights to Morocco, six nights’ luxury accommodation and five rounds of championship golf on fabulous courses.

Entries to the Morocco Matchplay, powered by HowDidiDo – which is open to both men and women – must be completed by May 25, 2014, while seniors need to be aged 50 or over on the same date.
