For all of its pristine, postcard-esque beauty, the Madeira Islands are having a tough time getting the weather to cooperate in order for the Euro Tour to play a golf tournament.
After all of Thursday’s action was wiped out, Friday’s round was called due to fog at 8:15 p.m. with about half the field still on the course.
The leader in the clubhouse is Scotland’s Scott Henry, who fired a 5-under 67, revving up with four birdies in five holes to start the back nine.
Portugal’s own Joao Carlota, an amateur, got off to an auspicious start before the fog rolled in, sitting a 4-under through four holes thanks to two birdies and an eagle 3 on the 521-yard No. 3.
Three other players are tied for third at 3-under with their rounds complete. England’s Andrew Marshall, Spain’s Pedro Oriol and Austria’s Martin Wiegele all shot 69s on the day.
