Showing a mixture of showmanship, pinache and some play old luck, 20-year-old Jordan Spieth capped his third straight bogey-free round at THE PLAYERS Championship on Saturday by tying Germany’s Martin Kaymer for the lead.
His scorecard for the round looked rather unremarkable – one birdie and 7 pars, but most of those pars came after bad opening shots, and he finished one stroke better than Kaymer, who has gone from a 9-under course record on Thursday to finishing with a 69 on Friday and now a 72.
Sergio Garcia, who has won this event three times, is third in the tournament followed by Matt Jones and George McNeil.
