Because of its proximity to The Masters, Tiger Woods has made a habit of skipping the Shell Houston Open each year.

His architectural firm, Tiger Woods Design, will be spending a lot of time in the area in coming months.

The firm was awarded the winning bid to completely overhaul a championship level course in Montgomery, TX, located about an hour north of downtown Houston.

Formerly known as Blaketree National Golf Club, the course will be renamed Bluejack National and is to be built on 755 acres of property. A entire community is planned, with amenities and 400 residential units.

Construction is to start this summer and be complete in the autumn of 2015.

“The opportunity is here to create a golf course unlike any other in the Houston area, and our goal is for it to be among the best in the nation,” Woods said of the 18-hole course in Beacon’s statement.
