BMW Championship Preview

After a week’s hiatus, the FedEx Cup returns in full force this Thursday in Chicago, as a field of 70 tries to shoe horn its way into the final 30 spots available for the Tour Championship finals next week in Atlanta.

Here’s a look at the top groups scheduled to tee off Thursdy at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Illinois, right outside Chicago.

Jason Day, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler – 12:53 p.m., No. 10: Well if you want to see a Beatlemania-esque following, this will be it as the men who have accounted for three of the four Majors this year, as well as the first two legs of the FedEx Cup tee off together. Spieth is looking to work out of the funk that has seen him on the sideline for each of the first two post-season events; Fowler has probably been the second-best golfer in the world behind Day over the past two months.

Zach Johnson, Dustin Johnson, Jim Furyk – 12:42 P.M., No. 10: The first Johnson has two Majors to his credit, including one this year; the second Johnson has been even better than before since returning his odd hiatus that began around this time last year, and Furyk remains perhaps the most steady player in the world Top 10.

Henrik Stenson, Bubba Watson, Charley Hoffman – 12:53 p.m., No. 1: Keep your eye on Stenson, who won the whole thing in 2013 and has finished second in both events so far this year. Watson has been steady, allowing him to remain in striking distance of the leaders.
