Morrison Climbs to Top at Munich
England’s James Morrison took advantage of Rafa Cabrera-Bello’s nosedive down the leader board, shooting his third straight round of 67 or under to take a 2-stroke lead at the BMW International Open on Saturday.
With his second 67 in three days, Morrison is 16-under, giving him a 2-stroke lead over fellow Englishman Chris Paisley with 18 holes to go.
Morrison played the first 17 holes bogey-free before scoring a 6 on the 568-yard No. 18. He has just two bogeys through the first 54 holes.
Thongchai Jaidee is third at 13-under. His 68 was highlighted by an eagle 3 on the par-5, 546-yard No. 6.
After having the lead for the first few days, Cabrera-Bello came unglued on Saturday. At 1-under through seven holes, he bogeyed No. 8, 10, 12, 13, and 17 to finish with a 2-over 74.
He had more bogeys (4) on the back nine Saturday than he had during the first two days of the tournament (3) combined.
Ten players are at least 10 strokes under par, but no one will approach the tournament record of 27-under set by John Daly in 2001.
