Spain’s Rafa Cabrera-Bello leads a red-hot field through two rounds of the BMW International Open in Munich.

He followed up Thursday’s 65 with a 67 to sit 12-under  through 36 holes. The same hole – No. 7 -perplexed Cabrera-Bello for a second straight day, but he was flawless again on the back nine, shooting 4-under down the stretch. In the first two rounds, he has nine birdies and nine pars on the back nine.

England’s James Morrison is a stroke back at 11-under after shooting a 66 . He could have been tied for the lead except for a bogey on No. 14, his first of the tournament.

Two other players – Norway’s Lasse Jensen and Northern Ireland’s Michael Hoey – are tied for third at 10-unde. Hoey shot a 65, and could have been tied for the lead had it not been for a pair of bogeys to slightly tarnish his nine birdies, including four in a row between No. 8 and No. 11.

Five players are within five strokes of the lead,  but that does not include world No. 7 Henrik Stenson, who followed up his opening-day 67 with a less-impressive 71. After his triple-bogey 7 on No. 16 on Thursday, he was sluggish out of the gate on Friday, +1 at the turn. He is 6-under, tied for 13th.

Local favorite Martin Kaymer shot a 1-under 71 to finish 1-under through two rounds, but missed the cut which was set at 3-under.
