Alex Noren Runs Away with Nordea Masters

Alex Noren fired a 71 on Sunday to win the Nordea Masters by 4 strokes, finishing 12-under par for the victory. It’s his second win at the tournament, following up his victory in 2011.

It’s a really big win considering Noren started 2015 on a medical extension because of tendinitis in both of his wrists.

There were few low scores on the final day, so Noren didn’t have much to worry about. Only one player who wound up in the top 10 shot below a 70.

Noren was the model of consistency. He was at even par with a birdie and a bogey after two, then proceeded to hit 15 pars in a row before a birdie on 18 took him 1-under for the round.

Denmark’s Soren Kjeldsen wound up second after winning a week ago, finishing 8-under with a 71 of his own.

A four-way tied for third included Day 2 co-leader Jens Dantorp and Germany’s Maximilian Kieffer, who recorded his second straight Top 8 finish.

World No. 4 Henrik Stenson, who started the day within five strokes of the lead, shot a 2-over 74 and wound up tied for 13th at 4-under. A trio of bogeys between No.  4 and 7 did him in early.

Marcus Kinhult, the amateur who shot 67 and 68 the first two days, got to see just how tough a four-round tournament can be, adding a 75 on Sunday to his 77 on Saturday to win up 1-under for the tournament, tied for 33rd.
