Australian golfer Steven Bowditch, who moved to the Dallas area 10 years ago, shot an 8-under 62, the lowest round of his career and two strokes off the course record, to lead the AT&T Byron Nelson Classic on Thursday.

Bowditch never recorded a bogey on the round and never went more than two holes without a birdie, and came within one stroke of the course record. He also built a 2-stroke lead over Jimmy Walker, who is currently second in the FedEx Cup standings.

Walker was 5-under on the front nine and also birdied 10 and 12 before slipping up with a bogey on No. 14.to bring him back down to earth.

A healthy Dustin Johnson turned up at 3-under in a log jam of a tie for eighth along with the likes of Keegan Bradley.
