Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial Preview

Adam Scott looks to shake out of a two-month slump and defend his Colonial title starting Thursday at the Colonial in Fort Worth, Texas, where most of the focus will be on World No. 2 Jordan Spieth, playing in his home state for the first time since winning The Masters in early April.

Eleven of the top 35 players in the world are on hand, quite a considerable feat considering the European Tour’s flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship, is being played concurrently.

Even a pair of high-ranking Englishmen, Ian Poulter and Paul Casey, have chosen to forgo their tour’s main event for a steamy weekend in the Metroplex, with highs in the 80s and plenty of rain in the forecast.

Scott had just taken over the No. 1 ranking when he won here a year ago. Since then his family has expanded to three with the birth of his daughter last winter, but his game has taken a hit, as he has fallen from No. 1 to No. 3 by the end of 2014 and down to No. 11 currently.
