Justin Rose Takes New Orleans Title
Justin Rose set a new course record, and needed every stroke of it, to win the Zurich Open of New Orleans Sunday with a 22-under. Rose birdied the final two holes to edge Cameron Tringale by a single stroke, firing a 66 on Sunday for the victory.
It was Rose’s first win on the PGA Tour since taking the Quicken Loans National in June of 2014, and his seventh overall, tying the number of European Tour titles he has won.
Tringale actually enjoyed the better round, firing a 65, but his bogey on 13 followed by four straight pars while Rose was knocking in birdies on 13 and 17 ultimately cost him a chance at a playoff.
Rose played a bogey-free round for the third straight day. He was a combined 19-under over the final three days of the tournament.
Boo Weekley, who finished third at 20-under, and Jim Herman, who tied for fourth at 19-under, also shot closing-round 65s.
