Hoffmann Stays Hot at Bay Hill
Despite being pursued by some of the best golfers in the world, Morgan Hoffmann took things in stride and extended his lead to three strokes with a gorgeous 7-under 65 Friday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando.
Nine birdies overcame a pair of bogeys to give Hoffmann a three-stroke lead over three players including last year’s champion Matt Every and Henrik Stenson.
The only hotter hand than Hoffmann on the day was that of Australian Danny Lee, who fired an 8-under 64 to finish the day five strokes back of the lead, tied with world No. 1 Rory McIlroy.
After a 70 on Day One, McIlroy opened his second round with six straight birdies before cooling off but still finished 6 under par.
