Golf might be trending towards a younger man’s game, but don’t tell that to 46-year-old Retief Goosen nor Vijay Singh, who turns 52 on Sunday.

The pair are part of a sextet tied atop the leaderboard after one round of the Northern Trust Open Thursday at 5-under.

Singh hasn’t won a PGA event since his remarkable end to the 2008 season in which he captured Bridgestone, The Barclays, and the Deutsche Bank Championship in a month’s time. Goosen’s last win came in 2009.

Goosen overcame back-to-back bogeys on 11 and 12 thanks to seven birdies. Also shooting a 66 on the day were Nick Watney, James Hahn, Daniel Summerhays, and Derek Fathauer.

In all, 32 players are at least one stroke under par after 18 holes, including Jordan Spieth (2-under) and Bubba Watson (1-under).
