Brandt Snedeker, Mike Jones Tied at Pebble Beach
John Daly faded back into the pack on Day 2 at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Friday, while recent winners Brandt Snedeker and Matt Jones rose to the top.
Jones added a 66 to his opening-round 65, while Snedeker posted a 67 after his opening-day 64. Jones rang up eight birdies, but a pair of bogeys kept him from running away with the lead.
Snedeker’s round was less dramatic: four birdies and 14 pars, but just as effective.
The pair has a 1-stroke lead over Day One co-leader Justin Hicks who followed his 64 with a 3-under 68.
Fourth place is a rather unlikely 10-way tie at 10-under, including 2014 FedEx Cup winner Billy Horschel, who racked up seven birdies.
But the round of the day went to Jason Day, who fired a 62, which was a bogey away from putting him a stroke out of the lead.
The world’s new No. 4, fresh off his win at Torrey Pines last week, had seven birdies through his first 12 holes, eagled No. 16, and birdied 17 before bogeying his final hole.
Daly temporarily had the lead when he birdied his first hole, and was 2-under through seven, but stumbled with three bogeys in five holes to shoot a 1-over 72, dropping back into a tie for 37th at 6-under.
