Dustin Johnson Confirms Torrey Pines Debut
Dustin Johnson will make his official return to the PGA Tour at Torrey Pines next month, his first time competing since he missed the cut at the Canadian Open on July 25, 2014.
Johnson and fiance Paulina Gretzky welcomed a son, Tatum, to the world this past Monday.
Johnson abruptly announced he was taking the rest of the year off last July, leading to speculation that he had failed a drug test. Golf.com reported he had failed a test for cocaine, something Johnson has harshly denied since.
“I don’t care what people think,” he said. “I mean, do. I want my fans to know I do care about them, and I’m glad for all the ones who have stuck by me. I’ve had an unbelievable amount of support from my family, friends and fans. And those who aren’t fans anymore, that’s their choice.”
Johnson burst onto the scene in 2008, winning once and finishing in the top 3 three times in 30 events. He made it five Top 10 finishes in 2009, and finished eighth at the US Open and fifth at the PGA Championship in 2010.
He was off to a rousing start in 2014, winning the WGC-HSBC Championship, and finishing in the Top 10 of seven other tournaments.
