In a field of bright stars, one of the lowest-ranked players had the best first round at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in Sun City, South Africa, on Thursday.

England’s Ross Fisher fired a 6-under 66 to take a two-stroke lead after the first 18 holes of the day. Fisher recorded seven birdies and a single bogey on the day.

He holds a two-stroke lead over the trio of France’s Alexander Levy, South Africa’s own George Coetzee, and Germany’s Marcel Siem, all at 4-under.

Siem had the wildest round of the day – even par at the turn, followed by a six-hole stretch of birdie, birdie, bogey, birdie, birdie, bogey. He got to 4-under with an eagle 2 on the 478-yard No. 17.

Another six players are four strokes back at 2-under.
