Open 2014 – O’Meara Out, Ross Fisher In

Two time Major winner Mark O’Meara, 57, has withdrawn from this year’s Open Championship.

O’Meara has been struggling with an elbow injury dating back to the Masters, and after an MRI, doctors recommended he stayed away from the firm fairways of Royal Liverpool.

O’Meara is replaced by 5 time winner Ross Fisher, bringing up the count of Englishmen in the field to 19.

Next two reserves are David Hearn and Daniel Summerhays, should there be any further withdrawals.
