Justin Rose Blooms to Turkish Title
It’s Justin Rose’s world right now, the rest of the golfers are just living in it.
Rose won his second straight enormous tournament, firing a final-round 65 to finish 18-under, winning the Turkish Airlines Open by 1 stroke over Nicolas Colsaerts.
Rose has earned €2.385 million in the past eight days.
At even par through six holes, Rose birdied six of his final 12 holes. He had just two blemishes on his card for the entire tournament.
He finished one stroke ahead of Colsaerts, who shot a 66 after bombing out with a 73 on Saturday. Colsaerts made it interesting by birdying 15, 16 and 17 down the stretch.
South Africa’s Dylan Frittelli charged up the leaderboad late to finish a stroke back. He had a 64 on Sunday, bursting out of the pack with five straight birdies on the front nine. A bogey on No. 10 tempered his progress, but he finished with three more birdies and shot 5-under on No.12 during the tournament.
Padraig Harrington finished fourth at 16-under with a closing-round 67. Day Three co-leaders Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Shane Lowry both staggered on the final day.
Lowry shot a 1-over 72 and finished tied for eighth at 13-under. Aphibarnrat shot an even-par 71 to finished at 14-under, tied for sixth.
