South Africa’s Dylan Frittelli won his first European Tour event at the Lyoness Open Sunday, riding a 5-under in the final round to finish 12-under, edging three other players by a single stroke.

He rode up the leaderboard as Chile’s Felipe Aguilar was tumbling down. Despite leading after 18, 36, and 54 holes, Aguilar bombed out with a 3-over 75 and wound up 10th.

Otherwise the top 10 spots on the leaderboard were full of low rounds, including the UK’s David Horsey, whose 7-under 65 nearly got him into a playoff with Frittelli.

Horsey was pure Jekyll and Hyde during the tournament, shooting 4-over on Days 1 and 3 but 15-under on Days 2 and 4. No player shot under 70 for all four rounds.

Frittelli was almost perfect on Sunday, birdying three of his first four holes and reaching 6-under through 11. He gave back a shot on 14 before finishing with a birdie on 16.

Aguilar, who shot worse with every subsequent round, birdied the first hole, bu couldn’t gain any momentum. He was 1-over at the break and kept racking up bogeys the rest of the way.
