Forty-four year old Stewart Cink is one of the three men duking it out for the St Jude Classic title headed to Sunday’s final round.

Considering Cink hasn’t been a contender in a few years and that he took a lot of time off last year to help care for his wife Lisa, who has Stage 4 breast cancer, and the Cinderella story nearly writes itself.

“It’s a moment you don’t really get to experience that often, even if you’ve played on the tour for 21 years,” Cink said. “This may only happen a handful of times. Maybe a few more. So it’s a really sweet feeling.

Cink has not won a PGA title since the 2009 Open Championship. He has won six times total, but played infrequently between 2014-2016.

He is at 9-under, tied with Rafa Cabrera Bello, who shot a 65 on Saturday, and Crane, who won here in 2014.

Ranked 30th, Cabrera-Bello ┬áhas never won the PGA Tour. Crane, one of Cink’s best friends on the PGA Tour, was full of praise on Saturday.

“The past year for Stewart has been something that you wouldn’t wish any couple to go through,” Crane said. “But we’ve watched Stewart and Lisa get closer to each other, get closer to God, and be a light out here on the PGA Tour in the midst of these trials.”
