Kisner, Hoffman Tied at Palmer Invitational
Kevin Kisner fired a 4-under 68 to tied Charley Hoffman for the lead at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando on Sunday.
After shooting 68-66 the first two days, Hoffman came back to earth with a 1-under 71. Kisner might have taken the out and out lead but he bogeyed 18 and collecting six birdies between holes 3 and 16. Hoffman’s mistakes came in pairs – back-to-back bogeys on No. 1 and 2 and again on 14 and 15.
Three other players are within three shots of the lead, including England’s Tyrrell Hatton, who shot a 5-under 67 to surge up 10 spots into a tie for third with Australia’s Marc Leishman and fellow Brit Matthew Fitzpatrick. Also making a push was Valspar Invitational winner Adam Hadwin, who is at 7-under after firing a 3-under 69.
It might be too little, too late, but Rory McIlroy made a move on Saturday, firing a 7-under 65 to reach 6-under. McIlroy was 5-under on the back nine alone.
