Spieth Pushes Lead to 5 at TOC
Jordan Spieth fired an 8-under 65 to push his lead to five strokes at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions on Saturday in Maui.
Spieth is 24-under, five strokes ahead of Brooks Koepka, who had the round of the day, a 10-under 63 to jump up six spots on the leaderboard.
Spieth finally recorded a bogey, doing so on No. 8 after four straight birdies between 3 and 7. He made up for it with three birdies in four holes between No. 12 and 15, and punctuated the performance with an eagle 3 on No. 18.
Koepka was close to perfection on Sunday,notching six straight birdies on the front nine and finishing with 10 on the day. Defending champion Patrick Reed shot a 6-under 67 to stay within theoretical distance of the lead, sitting at 18-under and six strokes off Spieth’s torrid pace.
