Stenson Up 1 at Nedbank
Henrik Stenson overcame three straight bogeys on the front nine to fire a 5-under 67 and take a one-stroke lead at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in Sun City, South Africa on Friday.
Three under through five holes, Stenson lost his cool and bogeyed 6, 7, and 8 in success to reach the turn at even par. He was a different golfer on the back nine, with five birdies in a seven-hole stretch to drop to 11-under for the tournament, one stroke ahead of Jaco Van Zyl.
Van Zyl looked prime to take the lead and run with it when he birdied No. 1 and eagled the 569-yard No. 2, but gave a stroke back on No. 4 and had 11 pars in 13 holes the rest of the way.
American Robert Streb moved up three spots to third by shooting a 66. He is 9-under and two strokes behind Stenson.
