Kisner, Knox Tied Atop HSBC Leaderboard
American Kevin Kisner and Scotland’s Russell Knox are tied at 16-under through 54 holes at the top of the leaderboard at the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai.
Kisner spent a second straight day in the lead, but he’ll have a fight on his hand to hold it on the final day as two players are a stroke behind, and another six are within four strokes, including defending champion Dustin Johnson and world No. 2 Jordan Spieth.
Kisner held his share of the lead with 2 -under 70, while Knox fired a 68 to fight his way to the top.
Johnson and China’s Haotong Li, ranked 212th in the world, are one stroke back. Johnson shot a 65 for the second time in three days, shooting a bogey-free round.
But the story of the day was undoubtedly Spieth, who tied Branden Grace for the low round of the tournament with a 9-under 63 to quickly climb the leaderboard.
Spieth had nine birdies and zero bogeys, just one day after staggering to three straight bogeys on the back nine.
