Rose Scores Hong Kong Win
Justin Rose notched the eighth win of his career on the European Tour by taking a 1-stroke victory over Lucas Bjerregaard at the UBS Hong Kong Open on Sunday.
Rose’s final-round 68 got him to 17-under, although he had to sweat it out a bit by bogeying the final hole.
The two men were tied after 54 holes, but Bjerregaard took a 2-stroke lead when he birdied No. 9 while Rose bogeyed it.
Rose got one stroke back when he birdied No. 10 and got back to even when Bjerregaard bogeyed No. 10.
Bjerregaard got back in front by a stroke with consecutive birdies on 12 and 13, but his double-bogey 6 on No. 14, his first of the tournament, put Rose back up a stroke, and the No. 6 player in the world didn’t give it back.
The victory gives Rose a victory on both the European Tour and the PGA Tour for a second straight year. He won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in late April, also by one stroke.
No other player finished within five strokes of the lead.
