Rose, Bjerregaard Lead Hong Kong
The No. 285 player in the world won’t let the No. 7 player out of his sights yet.
Denrmak’s Lucas Bjerregaard shot a blistering 63 to outduel Justin Rose by one shot, forging a tie for the lead at the UBS Hong Kong Open on Saturday through 54 holes.
Bjerregaard has never won a tournament, but finished ninth at the Portugal Masters last week. He was 3-under at the turn, then rattled off four straight birdies to start the back nine. A bogey on No. 18 kept him from having the outright lead.
Rose fired a 64 comprised of two birdies and a pair of eagles, one coming on the 551-yard Par 5 No. 3, the other on the 529-yard, Par-5 No. 13.
The pair have a 4-stroke lead on India’s Anirban Lahiri, with Matthew Fitzpatrick rising to a tie for fourth at 10-under.
Only five players are at least double-digits under par.
