Justin Rose followed up his opening-day 65 with a 66 on Friday to take a 1-stroke lead to the halfway point of the UBS Hong Kong Open.

Rose recorded his first bogey of the tournament on Friday, but surrounded it with five birdies, three on the back nine, where he is a combined 7-under through two rounds.

The No. 7 player in the world has a 1-stroke lead over Denmark’s Lucas Bjerregaard, who’s ranked all of 285th in the world.  The Dane shot his second consecutive 66, counter-balancing three bogeys with seven birdies.

Late entry Ian Poulter continued to impress, shooting a 66 of his own to rise to a  tie for third.

Every player at least at even par made the cut – 76 in all. A surprising miss was American Dustin Johnson, ranked No. 8 in the world, who shot a 72 on Friday with four bogeys and a double-bogey to finish 1-over for the tournament.
