New No. 1 Jason Day Cruises to BMW Win
Jason Day took over the No. 1 ranking in the world and widened his lead in the FedEx Cup standings to more than 500 points, cruising to victory at the BMW Championship Sunday in Chicago.
Day did things the Tiger Woods’ way: exploding to an insurmountable lead and playing smart, safe golf the rest of the tournament. Day was -18 on the first two days of the tournament, thus only needing to go -4 on the final two days to take the victory.
All he needed Sunday was a 2-under 69 to finish 22-under, cruising to a 6-stroke win over Daniel Berger, who is turning in an impressive rookie year.
Scott Piercy took third, finishing 7 strokes back. Day has four wins in his last six starts, and is 101-under in those six tournaments.
