How to draw big crowds to the KLM Open in The Netherlands this week while the PGA Tour has its penultimate leg of the FedExCup going on simultaneously?

Give the people a 66-year-old course rookie.

Yes, for the first time in his lengthy career, American favorite Tom Watson will take the course at the Kennemer G&CC in Zandvroot, The Netherlands.

“The course is even better than I expected, and I’d heard a lot of good things about it, Watson said on Wednesday.  “Darren Clarke said to me on Monday morning when I arrived, ‘Tom, you’re going to love this course’. It’s a great traditional course – which in this day and age means short, but you add a 15-20mph wind and it’s not so short.”
He’ll fill out a field that also includes former Major winners Martin Kaymer, Padraig Harrington, Darren Clarke, and Y.E. Yang.

Watson has won 71 professional tournaments in his career, including eight Majors. He recently played The Open Championship for the last time, having won it five times.
