Consistent Slattery Takes M2M Lead
England’s Lee Slattery fired his second straight 67 to open up a 2-stroke lead at the M2M Russian Open Saturday.
Slattery might have run away with the lead for good had he not double-bogeyed No. 11, but was pretty perfect otherwise, with six birdies, four of those on the back nine.
His lead is two over Argentina’s Estanislao Goya and Scotland’s Craig Lee, who are both 11-under through 54 holes.
The biggest mover on the day was by defending champion David Horsey, who jumped up from 11th to fourth with a 66 to climb within three strokes of the lead.
Day Two leader Bradley Dredge sunk to a tie for fifth at 9-under after struggling to a 1-over 72 on Saturday.
Dredge started off strong, with two birdies in his first three holes, but gave both strokes back with bogeys on 9 and 12. he got back to 1-under par with a birdie on 13, but struggled down the stretch with two more bogeys on 14 and 17 to wind up over par.
Dredge was 2-over on the back nine Saturday after going a combined 7-under there on Thursday and Friday.
